09.04.14: Girl friends are forever

Hello, dolls! Happy #ThrowbackThursday 😉 Whew! I just got home from a challenging shift. One of the things that I truly appreciate about my job is how we can create beautiful things in just 5 minutes…amazing if you make it 10.. and breathtaking if you give us at least an hour. The nature of my job is stressful, we are always under pressure and for the past few years I have managed to not lose my temper (although this year I had a minor hiccup when my sanity gave in to the cliche and yelled at someone —- which made me feel horrible for 3 days!). Tonight I had the opportunity to work alongside my Chef, for a 7 course tasting for 5. It was very last minute! I swear it was a roller coaster ride that I am happy to be part of. If I can have more days like this, wherein I was able to exercise my creativity and be respected for the my craft… I can definitely stay away from the negative thoughts that I’ve been having lately.

So yup..just thought I’d share how my day went.

A few days ago I expressed how I feel about distance interfering with the growth of my relationship with other people.

As disappointing as it can be sometimes, I am grateful that I have these girls beside me.

A trip back home is never complete without seeing my girls. Since I only had 3 weeks in Manila to see friends, I made sure that I’ll put my girls on top of my list.

We decided to do “wine night”…you know, no more sparkling welch grape juice for us… we drink wine now. haha

02.08.14: Moshi Moshi!

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Happy Sunday!! It has been another exhausting work weekend and I am so glad I will be embracing Monday in less than 12 hours!!!! So my mind is preoccupied with anything relating to the big W next year…and I am guessing it is going to be like this for the next 9 months (AAAAH save me). I promised myself not to be the capricious about the entire thing, but I guess it is common nature you know? To sleep with one thought in the head and wake up with a brand new one the next day. So maybe, it is safe to say that I am driving myself…nuts. Haha

Anyway, so I was able to cross off something on my list and that is to let my favorite girls know about their importance throughout the entire process, and their participation. I wish I could have asked them personally, but yeah…my life is so awesome right now, God reserved something exciting for me instead. Since today is family day, let me share with you a post about the girls that I consider family.

I hosted a pre-Valentine’s day dinner for the girls. And as usual, we can’t not have a theme. I chose Japanese cuisine so I can practice on my sushi skillZ (yes with a Z haha) AND so we can play around with fun outfits..

We’ve decided to go for “Japanese Street Style” as our peg for the night, you will see our outfits later on but yeah…it was so much fun to be extra weird with my favorite girls! ❤

12.11.13: Of Wednesdates

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Today feels like my first official Wednesday here in Baltimore. It seemed like last week was nothing but a dream, I spent most of my days trying to beat jet lag and this crazy winter weather. So I finally gave in and updated my location on Facebook… I am now embracing the fact that I now live in Baltimore. It’s silly you know? A lot of people asked me before I left if I ever saw myself living in the US, I would always reply with a no and explain that when I was in high school I hated the thought of leaving home or one of my siblings living abroad. But now, now look at me…fate brought me here and it wasn’t all that scary after all.

Today is Wednesday and it feels weird that I am just here in my apartment waiting for this day to be over, and how I spent my afternoon without Alyza — laughing over great food and talking about life with the presence of our #COTD (cocktail of the day — yup I am coining it now! haha). It feels different you know? To not look forward to dinners anymore cause my family’s not around..and how I do not have to workout early so I can whip up something in the kitchen for my family.

I can’t think of a single person that I know that doesn’t like Japanese food. I love how it’s so simple but very satisfying..you know? Uhhh I can just go for some awesome sushi right now!

I am so glad Alyza suggested to try Katsu cause I really loved everything that was on our table 🙂

11.04.12: Another dream crossed off my list

I can’t help but laugh at myself for typing such a silly blog title, but that’s how I am…silly. I am still hyped about the recent direction that I stepped into. It’s another stage full of joy, wisdom and a hint of loneliness. It still seems like a dream to me, but all I know is I am really really really overwhelmed and grateful to the Big Guy up there for His never ending love and blessings. Also, to my family most especially to my Dad for supporting me in every decision and goals. My heart is pouring out of love and happiness, I still can’t believe it. I have yet reached a juncture where in life has unfolded something beautiful for me..something that answered my questions and something to look forward to. That’s what I love about planning, it gives you excitement and a vision of what awaits you. To my life next year (or should I say the next 2 and a half years), I can’t wait to be a better version of me. To my future life, you’ll get where you want to be soon – without loneliness and with your family 🙂

Meet Jiro Ono.

A great sishi Chef that inspired not only me, but everyone else who has watched his documentary. Hence, my blog title. Sushi may be a simple food to some, but he gave more life into it. He expressed more out of it and that’s what made me fall in love with the documentary. Everything about the documentary is still fresh in my memory, it’s just too beautiful and invigorating that it made me realize how fortunate I am to love what I do and to have the passion in what I do.

You must dedicate your life in mastering your skill . That’s the secret to success and is the key to being regarded honorably” – Jiro Ono

Silly me

School x Shopping Day

Went to Virginia and visited my future 🙂

Had lunch in this awesome awesome awesome (did I say) AWESOME place in Tyson’s corner!

Wasabi – rotating sushi in the middle of the mall!

Say hello to the sushis that we ate!!! They were all so yummy!! I have no words but NOMNOMNOM!

Finished 3 packs of this yummy Japanese peanuts!

My favorite! Such a shame that I forgot the name! (But I’m going back so…) I devoured myself with this baby!! Reminded me of Teriyaki Boy’s Philadephia Roll!! Only that this has my favorite – shrimp!

Eel Sushi –  Top 2 on my list! Definitely one of the bests that they have!! This was so yummy that it took me straight the sushi land!!!

Mango Mousse – super creamy and not too sweet. MY kind of dessert! 🙂

$75 lunch was soooo worth it!

Must try this next time!

Come to Mama! 😛

Went for a comfy and simple look for my awesome day in Virginia! 🙂 It was bright and sunny that day despite of the the cold breeze of air. I wanted to resemble someone that is bright and full of life so I picked the color yellow. Also for good luck, both of my parents love yellow – and it worked! 🙂 It’s as if they were with me while I was talking to the admins. 🙂

Hello, School girl! ❤

Loving this week,

R ❤ xx
