July 2014: Introduction to Thai

Hello, sweets! Hello, Tuesday. I am sooo excited to share our Bangkok trip and I am happy that I will get to do that this month!!! So I guess this new social media routine worked out pretty well, though I know I still have to work on responding to e-mails quickly. The cold weather is giving me mixed emotions about February, part of me wants it to fly by so we can all enjoy March’s gift — spring. The other half of me is scared because February is the month that I want results, this is the time that I want to do big things and have a clearer vision about the future — it’s about yes or no.

Almost 24

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 November is almost over, I can’t believe it!!! I also can’t believe that I have not mentioned my birthday 1 million times just like how I do every year.As I get closer to turning 24, I am starting to get sentimental about being away from my family. I feel bad for A because he is doing EVERYTHING to make my birthday month amazing and sometimes I feel like I don’t show how happy I am enough because of all the craziness that we have to deal with.

I can see my Dad knocking on my door with a bouquet of flowers for me….my Mom in the kitchen cooking something delicious for my birthday lunch…my sister on the floor making a birthday banner for me… my brother Remo fighting everyone to hug me first…and jejekid, in our room to steal all of my chocolate stash while trying to come up with the perfect caption for his Instagram post dedicated to me.

I wish my family could be here…or I could be there…I wish we could all be together for my birthday again. Like last year.

This is the second birthday that I am going to celebrate away from my family, but I feel like it’s the first.

I do not have a lot of posts left from last year and I am happy because I am getting closer and closer to my target of starting to work on our trip to Asia by the end of the year -or- by January.

When I think of home, I remember all the times I made my family happy through food. I wish I could cook for them and spend the afternoon in our rooftop….to me that would be the perfect way to spend the afternoon of my birthday. (more…)

07.08.14: Our New Playmate

Hello,sweets!!! 🙂 How was your weekend? Ours is just about to end tomorrow and it has been amazing… just how I expected it to be. I am still not over about my Friday night out with my favorite people here in Baltimore, and last night God blessed us with another memory to cherish for the entire week — double date night with our best friends at one of the best restaurants I’ve been! 

I wish I could share to you our wonderful dinner last night now but I have waaaay too many posts that I need to publish before that so I will talk about something relevant to it instead. I am grateful that we have friends here in Baltimore that we get to hangout with during our days off. Friends that can relate to us in terms of the things that we love to eat or cook. It’s hard to find a true friend in a city that I’ve only been for less than 3 years, but Frances and Roger (and now baby Roger too) has contributed into making my life here very exciting. I love weeks where in we get to see each other more than once, A and I have the most challenging schedules ever but thank God to our best friends who are willing to hangout with us on a weekday 😉

One of the things that we value as Chefs is connection.  I am happy to say that at the age of 23, I’ve met a good number of talented Chefs that know me by name. It is a big thing because I know that when I get out there and try to doe something bigger for my career, I have people who could help or teach me how to get there. (more…)

Emporiyum

04.27.14: A Sunday Well Spent

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Hello Baltimore! I am back!!! I am back to reality…. which came too soon for A and I cause in less than 24 hours we both went back to work and endured a day in the kitchen, on our feet! Anyway, the cold season has started to make its way back and I am not too excited about it. It seems like it was only last month when I finally enjoyed the weather here. I do not like winter, and the only good thing that makes me feel good about it is that fact that I can play with layers of clothing…other than that, NO THANKS!

Fall is fast approaching and I don’t think I am ready for it yet. I just brought back summer clothes enough to get me through the entire season from my trip in Bangkok and I can’t probably use them until April! BIG YIKES! I was so used to the climate in Manila that I forgot that here, I have to deal with 4 different seasons.

Thinking about fall almost brings me back to April, when we went to Emporiyum. 

It was a pretty cold day, but not cold enough to make me wear 3 layers of clothes, but warm enough to make me take off my jacket once in a while.
