Hello, sweets!!! Happy (almost) New Year!! Only two and a half days left to make 2014 memorable, are you ready for 2015? I can’t believe that the new year is literally right around the corner. I feel like I still have tons of things to do before I kiss 2014 goodbye. This holiday week has been really beautiful, I can only thank God for blessing us with time to see family and friends during this wonderful season. It’s been really hectic and crazy for A and I since thanksgiving, and I remember looking forward to to this week when he was at the peak of his 70hr schedule.
We spent the past week away from Baltimore — a much needed vacation for the both of us.
We spent 2 days in New York and a couple of days in New Jersey, it was the perfect way to celebrate this holiday season.
Since I am still behind my posts, I am going to share something that happened not too long ago in New Jersey. (more…)
12.01.14: Il Mio Amore
Hello, sweets!!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas!!!!! I am a bit late but I know that the spirit of Christmas is still alive in every part of us. We are only a few days away from welcoming 2015
(whuuuuut!?!?!? already?!) and as my way of thanking you all my dear readers, I will post 2 special entries before the end of the year.
The past 2 months has been very eventful, and I can only thank the my big guy up there for all the blessings that I have received. I may be away from my family for all the joyous moments that happened in my life, but He never failed to make me feel their presence in all different ways. One of the biggest blessings that he gave me is A —- my constant source of happiness.
Before we move on…read about my previous posts about my 24th birthday
Since our November and December are already planned out for work and special events, we couldn’t really go somewhere out of Baltimore for my birthday. Despite of that, A still managed to make me feel like we are away by taking me to a place that he knows I love.
It was love at first sight I must say, when A took me to Charles Street for lunch. I told him that the area is unique and that it makes me feel like I am away from Baltimore.
It must be the hill like road…or the beautiful buildings and unique looking stores.
I really appreciate it when A plans our date. He is really great in choosing the perfect place to take me to.
For my birthday, he chose this 20 year old Italian Restaurant. Sotto Sopra
It was one of our best dinners to date! (more…)
12.2013: Memories at home
Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Christmas Eve!!!!!!! Aaaah another year of spending the holidays away from my family, but thank God this year is not going to be sad or anything because I have A’s family with me. I sometimes feel guilty when I overlook the sad part of being away from home, I feel like I am cheating.
I miss home… I miss all our December traditions. I know it’s too much to ask, but sometimes I wish I have both.
The food that I make at home helps me remember all the good moments that I had with my family.
Just like this Chocolate Cupcake with Reese’s Peanut Butter Frosting that I made for my family who loves to eat desserts like me. (more…)
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 5 days until Christmas….are you all ready?? 🙂 Aaaah I can’t wait for my super long weekend (literally!) A much deserved break. I wish my family is here cause I know it would be perfect to spend my free time with them. A lot of things can remind us about Christmas, for me I can think of 5 right off the top of my head. One of which is food, and I swear, as we draw closer to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I am already starting to get worried about my game plan because I know it will be non-stop eating for me!!!!
Summer is the perfect time for my smoothies. Everyone who is close to me knows that I could drink a 12oz smoothie in just seconds!
I am very particular with the smoothies that I drink. I only like fresh fruits and natural sweetener.
This summer, I was able to experiment with some of my favorite fruits and beat the heart with a nice homemade healthy cold smoothie!
And of course, my trusty pink blender was there to help!
11.29.2014: 24 is awesome
Hello, sweets! Ahhh…the past few days has been crazy stressful for me. I am blessed with a challenging situation that I know will make me a better worker. Times like this I am happy that I have this blog to let my feelings out — to unwind, to remember all the great things that happened in my life, and forget about all my miseries.
I do not have a lot of birthday posts like the previous years. In fact, I only have 3 this year. My birthday was eventful and I can honestly say that 2014 has brought me a lot of highs and one major sad event that will never make me forget this year.
A knew that I will not feel a 100% complete on my birthday because I am away from my family. But despite of that, he still made me the happiest birthday girl!
The thing about A, since he knows I don’t have everyone that I grew up with and need here by my side, he tries his best to be all that.He is super amazing!
A knows I NEED to have a delicious slice (or more) of cake for my birthday. So the perfect fiance went to one of the best pastry shops here in Baltimore and surprised me on my birthday with a DELICIOUS mango and chocolate mousse cake.
I love it when A goes behind my back to surprise me! haha (more…)
7.7.14: College (also) never ends
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 We are only 10 days away from Christmas and aaaaah I can’t wait until this week over so I can spend 2 days with A without thinking about work and this busy holiday season..especially for food industry workers like us. After 9 days,A and I were finally able to spend a decent day together…oh how I miss Mondays with him, Mondays where in we do not worry about time and having to wait for another week to eat lunch and dinner together in one day.
Over the summer, I was blessed to see an old friend again. I do not have a lot of people that I’ve known for a very long time here in the States. So every time I get the opportunity to see someone I know, I make sure that I make it happen.
Charles, my college friend lives in California. So when he told me a couple of weeks before July 7 that he is going to be in DC. I made sure that A and I will have the afternoon saved for him
We did not really plan anything for that day. I just wanted to see an old friend and catch up. — be reminded of home again.
Everything that we did was spontaneous. Especially when visited The National Portrait Gallery. (more…)
Hello, sweets!! It’s December again, the most wonderful time of the year for everyone, but for A and I… it’s the most exhausting time of the year! I am starting to feel the sappy aura of Christmas here again and the huge difference between December here and in Manila. December here does not feel like December.Everyone wishes for a white Christmas, but with Christmas comes COLD. Cold weather for everyone and the cold lonely feeling for those who are away from their families…like me.
At home, I always look forward to my birthday because I know after that everyone will make it a point that we will be complete for dinner every night for the month of December. December is the ultimate family month for us, but now…. as much as I want to, I would rather cross out dinner on my daily routine. The first week of December was pretty nice because A’s parents were here, I wish they could stay longer. My motivation for the coming days is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I can’t wait to go to New Jersey and spend time with the family!
I am starting to miss A…and how we could have lunch together at least 3 times a week. Lately, I am lucky if I get to see him in the morning.
So tonight, I want to remember all the sweet apartment lunch dates that we had during spring.
When life was still warm and lovely.
Back when I had extra time to go through our cookbooks and try at least one recipe every week. I, of course did something from the Milk Bar cookbook. (more…)
