Almost 24

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 November is almost over, I can’t believe it!!! I also can’t believe that I have not mentioned my birthday 1 million times just like how I do every year.As I get closer to turning 24, I am starting to get sentimental about being away from my family. I feel bad for A because he is doing EVERYTHING to make my birthday month amazing and sometimes I feel like I don’t show how happy I am enough because of all the craziness that we have to deal with.

I can see my Dad knocking on my door with a bouquet of flowers for me….my Mom in the kitchen cooking something delicious for my birthday lunch…my sister on the floor making a birthday banner for me… my brother Remo fighting everyone to hug me first…and jejekid, in our room to steal all of my chocolate stash while trying to come up with the perfect caption for his Instagram post dedicated to me.

I wish my family could be here…or I could be there…I wish we could all be together for my birthday again. Like last year.

This is the second birthday that I am going to celebrate away from my family, but I feel like it’s the first.

Here’s a #tbt worthy photo of us during my 10th birthday!

I do not have a lot of posts left from last year and I am happy because I am getting closer and closer to my target of starting to work on our trip to Asia by the end of the year -or- by January.

When I think of home, I remember all the times I made my family happy through food. I wish I could cook for them and spend the afternoon in our rooftop….to me that would be the perfect way to spend the afternoon of my birthday. (more…)

Hello, Summer!

07.01.14: Color me SUMMER

Hello, sweets! Yaaay! I’m finally blogging about summer this year. Soon enough I will post about our adventures in Asia 🙂 Only 5 days left until I turn 24, seriously I can’t keep up with time anymore!!! I feel like we just welcomed November a couple of days ago and now it’s almost over! So yesterday was a lot of fun! We celebrated our little buddy’s first birthday so I’ve decided to post this entry now, a day in summer where we all gathered in the apartment again to cook great food!

Since it was a Monday, A took me out on a lunch date.We wanted to try something new so we went to this quaint Cuban restaurant in Towson.

21 Reasons Why A Is My Soulmate

Hello, sweets! 🙂 Happy (almost) weekend!! For the past few weeks, I’ve realized that my life is in complete procrastination mode. I don’t know what hit me but balancing life, work, and the wedding seems to be the hardest thing to do! I did so well the first few months, but now, everything around me seems very demanding and causes me to be busy. I wish I could just take a solid break and work on things one by one without losing my sanity, but I have to remind myself that this situation that I have now is another huge blessing…it all leads to the beautiful amazing things in life.

All the craziness that I experienced before lead me to my soulmate, A. I have uncountable reasons why I know he is my soulmate, but today I am going to share with you 21 reasons.

1. Hugs

I don’t do hugs and I am not big on cuddling. I can honestly say that up until now I still sometimes have this blank look on my face when A tries to give me a cheesy hug (emphasis on the sometimes!). I don’t know why but I was never good at showing my affection by touch. I told A about my condition (haha) during our first month of dating and he just quickly laughed at me.

I guess, when you meet the right person, some things change for the best. Looking at A makes me want to hug him, even if he is just sitting on the couch or doing the something simple, I want to hug him! I like how he gives me this soft smile when I hug him (unlike the annoying blank face that I give him) cause I know I have the world wrapped in my arms 🙂

2. He lets me sparkle

The first time I stared at my engagement ring, I can’t help but feel like the grandest and luckiest woman in the world! I kept on asking him over and over again why he chose the ring that he gave me. It’s so beautiful and it just shows how much A loves me. Every time someone sees my ring I always get the “your ring is so beautiful! your man must really love you”. I get this big spark in my heart everytime I hear that, because A does not only let me sparkle through my ring, he lets me sparkle in so many ways.

Like the way he compliments me when I do something beautiful in the kitchen. How I keep the apartment clean. The way I dress up, and the way I do my make-up and hair.I know I sparkle in his eyes.

He calls me maarte when I am being extra naughty, but he will also take me out on dates just so I can feel pretty by dressing up. (more…)

Baltimore: Lunch Dates

Hello, sweets!!! Happy Monday!!!! I know most of you will not agree about the “happy Monday” part but for some people like A and I….our Saturday is Monday. Yesterday, I was able to have an amazing Sunday with A. He doesn’t get Sundays off unless he requests for it so we made sure that our Sunday together will not be wasted. The highlight of our date was our food adventures in DC…and once again, I can’t wait to share them with you soon!!! 🙂 —- I wrote this part yesterday morning hoping that I will be able to post this entry by the end of the day but something awesome happened so here I am finishing this one. haha

Since A and I would only get 2 dinners together each week, we see to it that our lunch dates will be good and eventful. We don’t always go to nice sit-down restaurants with a white tablecloth, most of the time we like to try those hole in the wall restaurants that would often surprise us with something delicious.

One of my favorite places to go to here in Baltimore is Cross Street Market. We’ve tried pretty much everything that they have in there and none of them disappointed us.

Steve’s lunch is one of A’s favorite because of their delicious subs.

IMG_5887A

We both love Bruce Lee’s because of the chicken wings (which unfortunately was already closed when we got there), and Matsuri’s for his tepanyaki noodles! We always get the seafood (NOMS!)

IMG_5880A

I love Kwon’s because of the fresh produce!! I love how the vendor lets me taste the fruits because he knows I am crazy about them haha 🙂

I would always get a cup of berry yogurt when we go to Costco! Sooooo gooooood ❤

We were so happy when we discovered Towson’s Best over the summer. One of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve been to here in Baltimore and it’s close to us!

Their beef chao mien takes me back to Asia..it’s so good!!!

DSC_0277

I love how most Asian restaurants that offer sushi have “sushi lunch specials”. The fatty in me is so happy because I get to have 2 rolls for only less than $9!!!

DSC_0278

Everytime a restaurant offers avocado shake I get it. This is not my favorite because they add lime to it!

Free ice cream after our meal!! TB spoils us haha

I like it when A takes me to the places he would often go to before he met me.

Chaps is known for their crazy delicious sandwiches. Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives even featured them on the show! So I was pretty excited when we went for lunch with A’s parents 🙂

I am not a sandwich person. I hate how messy I get! So I got their ceasar salad and bbq chicken…. YUMMS!

Jimmy John’s opened a location close to our apartment, I agreed to going there for lunch because they can make any sub as a lettuce wrap!

I enjoyed my tuna sandwich so much, except the “I have mayo on my face” and “my hands smell like tuna and red onion now”.

We like going to the Amish Market whenever we can. I always get hyped up when I am in there because of all the choices in food, and cool stuff that we can take home!

oh FUDGE!

IMG_6274A

I can’t wait to try one someday!!

We don’t get a cake because it’s too big for us to finish! haha

November Girls

It’s never too late to have a new BFF!

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 I can’t believe we are almost halfway through my birthday month!(time, you need to slowdown!!!). November is always sweet to me, even though I do not try to make it extra amazing, blessings come pouring to remind me of how beautiful life is (and that turning a year old is not too bad!).I am not the only one who looks forward to November (well….duhh) what makes it even more special now is that one of my best friends birthday is also in November!

There are times where I feel like I am not being a good friend. Times that make me realize that being away could be challenging in every way. Recently it would take me up to more than a day to get back to messages from my friends, and it makes me feel horrible (of course!) because it shouldn’t be that way. Last night I felt overwhelmed about everything that I NEED to do in the next couple of months, all I wish right now is to have TIME to make them all happen.

DSCN1107A

Days like this makes me miss having my girlfriends close to me. I wish I could just give them a call right now and meet up an hour after.

DSCN1112A

I miss having lunch dates with Alyza, I wish I was home for her birthday to celebrate our birthday month together, just like last year! But the least thing that I can do for the person who made being in a LDR relationship bearable for me for 10 months is to write an entry here on my blog. (more…)

07.08.14: Our New Playmate

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 How was your weekend? Ours is just about to end tomorrow and it has been amazing… just how I expected it to be. I am still not over about my Friday night out with my favorite people here in Baltimore, and last night God blessed us with another memory to cherish for the entire week — double date night with our best friends at one of the best restaurants I’ve been!

I wish I could share to you our wonderful dinner last night now but I have waaaay too many posts that I need to publish before that so I will talk about something relevant to it instead. I am grateful that we have friends here in Baltimore that we get to hangout with during our days off. Friends that can relate to us in terms of the things that we love to eat or cook. It’s hard to find a true friend in a city that I’ve only been for less than 3 years, but Frances and Roger (and now baby Roger too) has contributed into making my life here very exciting. I love weeks where in we get to see each other more than once, A and I have the most challenging schedules ever but thank God to our best friends who are willing to hangout with us on a weekday 😉

IMG_7051A

If not doing something in the kitchen together, we go out to eat and fill ourselves up with great food.

This was taken when we met up with Peter for drinks. I just thought this is a good first photo for my entry haha

One of the things that we value as Chefs is connection.  I am happy to say that at the age of 23, I’ve met a good number of talented Chefs that know me by name. It is a big thing because I know that when I get out there and try to doe something bigger for my career, I have people who could help or teach me how to get there. (more…)

The Greek Life

Cause I love anything Greek way too much

Hello, sweets!! Guess what?? We had the Friday night off again!! I can’t help but find it funny because a couple of days ago I was just gushing about our Friday date night back in Summer…and now we were able to do it again this Fall. YAY! Last night was ahmaaahzing! It was not like our Woodberry date night but A gave me new memories to cherish. what we did is somewhat related to what I will be talking about in a while…GREEK! I am so happy that I am here for the Greek Festival this year, and that we were able to go and eat delicious Greek food…..and have fun with our friends after! I  couldn’t think of any other way to celebrate our Fall Friday Date Night  than how we spent it last night.

I compiled all the Greek related photos that I have on my computer to make a decent Greek related post. A couple of days ago, I told A and his Mom that I am happy that they celebrate a lot of traditions. That we always have something to look forward to and feel grateful for each day.

DSC_1017A

The Greek Life is more than just lemons, feta cheese, and olive oil. I think one of the reasons why I am very excited to marry A is because his values are the same as mine.

DSC_0914A

To start this entry…. I will talk about me! HAHA

So I finally got a haircut after 4 months of being back here in Baltimore. I am always afraid to go for a trim (even though mah girl LC says that we should !) I’ve had my fair share of annoying “my hair is way tooo short moments” so yeaaap, it usally takes me a while to go back. haha

Anyway, so I went to the salon a couple of hours before our drive to New Jersey, and after an hour of hair treatment and a long chat with the hairdresser, I did not notice time and I was already outside the salon so no blow dry for me!! Haha The lady did not want to let me leave with wet hair so she did this for me! #LoveIt (more…)
