03.28.13: Road trip with friends (3 days that I would love to go back to!)
There are things in life that I thought I would never get to experience until I’m on my mid 30’s. With the exaggeration making it sound horrible, I just had a different mentality about “the future” before. Almost 6 years ago, I thought earning 15k a month would make me happy and “wealthy”. Oh the horror of being young…and naive. Anyway, I AM SO GLAD that someone woke me up from the horrible nightmare and made me realize that I am headed towards something bigger and better. Thank God!!
As I look at my life now, I am still on cloud 9 pinching myself trying to comprehend the fact that THIS IS really happening. “This”, this moment! I didn’t know that a small-digital-squared-shape-device could make me look at my future. Knowing that there is something permanent about my life now builds another layer of shield against anything lamentable. Just when I thought I couldn’t get any tougher in life, God hands me another blessing.
So this post is like a gazillion months late. And trust me, I’ve tried to keep my pace. But bTV has taken over my life on a different level. I spend my free time watching shows that makes me mad, laugh and excited all at the same time! And spend my busy hours daydreaming about the next episode of whichever show (haha) #exaggeration. So I am still trying to understand how I was able to watch 4 seasons of Real Housewives of New Jersey in a week. Yes a full week! And yes, I still have a life. I find myself staying up late just to catch up on my shows. And now, I’m watching Sex and the City again for the nth time. LIFE COULDN’T BE BETTER! Haha
“Drive sober or get pulled over”
If we have signs like this in the Philippines, maybe drivers would’ve cared more. #MAYBE
Fact101: I love packing! I love to pack. I love the feeling that I get when I pack for the both of us. I LOVE PACKING (period). Unlike most people, I don’t complain about it. The thought of going somewhere makes me excited about packing, it’s like an addiction, sometimes I go on trips just for the sake of packing.. haha
I remember going to subway with my Dad 2-3 Saturdays in a month. After we drop off my siblings in Glorietta’s “Kids at Work” we would go straight to Subway and order a sub each with a bag of lays. This occurred when I was big enough to tell him that I am already the tallest and “fattest” kid in the playground. I remember enjoying my sub and how my Dad would look at me like I’m a fat boy.
When I got to the States, a lot older from my subway days. I tried to drift away from the sandwiches, I just felt like I was already pass that stage – me eating like a fat kid. And besides, my agenda was to try something new! I felt like subway has been in the Philippines long enough that if ever I crave for some “ummm-some” sandwich, it’ll be just there.
Italian Cold Cut Submarine!!!
On a cold normal weekday, it is surprising that we were welcomed with a line outside the door. The “sub shop” is not too glamorous looking, but even people who are wearing a coat and tie are seated by the bar enjoying a sub. We were lucky that there are 4 of us so we got a booth. Otherwise, I would be seated by the bar with the chorvs feeling uncomfortable #ArtreGirlProblems
Since we already had breakfast prior to our late lunch trip to White House, we compromised on getting a full 24 inch…yes 2 feet!!! Italian Sub!!! It was divided into 4 and I swear, I would’ve eaten more, but since we are in Atlantic City, I know that I would be spending the entire day nibbling on something.
P.S. This is really really really good! And I am lucky that I have the best chorvs ever that brings me to places like this!!!
I don’t know who were we fooling but a full sub was not enough for the 4 of us…
We just had to give in and order another full sub!! this time, a very delicious Cheese steak!!!
Mmm so good I can’t even!!!! And yes our subs were served with hots!! that made them even more delicious!!!
A few moments after nutella crepe, hazelnut drink, a pair of shoes and a bag, we found ourselves walking towards the Boardwalk. I haven’t seen it on a daylight like this, and I must say, I appreciated it more this time.
So while waiting for our friend who is trying to win some money at the Casino, we took advantage of the nice sunny day and “bonded” with the camera.
Happiness in Atlantic City… ❤
My first Sonic experience. It’s crazy cause we have in Baltimore, but it’s always on the other side of the road when we go to that area.
This reminded me of Roller Rush, a game that I was so hooked on almost 10 years ago!
So after a quick shopping trip somewhere on NJ, we all decided to cook dinner (or at least the amigos did haha). What better way to spend a road trip with friends 🙂
Grilled Fresh Clams and Garlic & Herbs in Oil
The clams alone were already perfect, but putting some of this very light and fresh condiment makes it even more tasteful! Mmm
Grilled Chicken x Carbonara x Grilled Portobellos and Asparagus
I can truly say that we had an amazing dinner. Having the amigos cook for us is a bonus! Haha 🙂
The next day…. (back to reality) 😐
Since I want to minimize the leftovers that we will be bringing back home, I’ve decided to make use of the ingredients that we have left.
I made a batch of crustless grilled asaparagus and portobello parmesan quiche.
I used a muffin pan and lined each hole with a parchment paper to have that “fancy” or should I say…”cutesy” feel! Needless to say, I was very happy with how this turned out, and of course, the amount of stuff that we brought home!
Pretty make up brushes that I snagged in Forever21! ❤
P.S. This blog was meant to be posted Tuesday last week, but I was too busy that I shamelessly forgot about it 😦
